| JAGUAR S-TYPE ,
retro rocket

"The interior benefits from a slightly more contemporary style and improved practicality" Many commentators on car design have observed that retro styling only has a short shelf life. Once you've raided the corporate heirlooms, the theory goes, you're then stuck when it comes to making updates and keeping the looks fresh. Jaguar would probably contend with that premise. The current S-TYPE retains its predecessor's basic silhouette but tidies up the detailing with some elan. Althou...

What would Inspector Morse think of the Jaguar S-TYPE? It would certainly appear at home amongst the dreaming spires of Oxford, its elegant curves signalling the perfect old-money ambience, despite being based on the American Lincoln LS platform. Whether the doughty Inspector, Jaguar man that he is, could afford one on his salary is quite another consideration. With used S-TYPE models starting to appear in steady numbers, maybe this could be the best way to get behind the wheel of this remark...

4.2 R, apposites attract?
(24/08/2005) by Car and Driving |

"When the S-TYPE R's engine really gets its trousers on it cranks out figures that full-on exotica like the Ferrari Testarossa would find impossible to match." Even if 'the most powerful Jaguar saloon ever' tagline fails to pique your interest don't stop reading now. After all, the Jaguar S-TYPE R model is a good deal more than just mere horsepower figures, although with 400bhp at its disposal, it attracts column inches almost as readily as Max Clifford on time and a half. To put ...

SPORTS COLLECTION RA, an executive idea of
sport

" In aiming for a younger audience, Jaguar is changing its whole image ' and it's a change for the better.?" Jaguar's S-TYPE was never conceived as a particularly sporty car but its amazing what you can do when you try. The company's Design Director Ian Callum was recently tasked to, visually at least, make it just that and he's succeeded better than anyone could have expected. Rather than just including Callum's bodywork tweaks on the most expensive variants, Jaguar have decided ...
