"Haggle hard and you'll find that most dealers will be fairly flexible on those prices?"

The run out; it's a time in the twilight of a vehicle's life when its manufacturer throws caution to the wind. Carefully mapped out marketing strategies and clearly defined trim level hierarchies are unceremoniously ditched in favour of a last gasp, all out attempt to shift the last few units. Prices plummet, specifications are bumped up and keen-eyed bargain hunters begin to circle. So it is with t...

As Convertible cars become ever more sophisticated and expensive, dazzling with us with their clever folding hard tops and dizzying electronic gadgetry, it's tempting to remember a time when things were a whole lot simpler. A lively engine, a simple ragtop and a frenetic ride really lets you know you were in touch with the elements. If you want a touch of old school Italian charm, Fiat's Punto Cabrio could be just the tonic. With used examples starting very inexpensively it's not as if you're...

Fiat's Punto has been around for a while now and you can find a wide range of second-hand examples at many dealers. Sincethis is arguably the best small car the Italians have ever produced, that's good news for family buyers. Particularly since there's an exhaustive range of engines, bodystyles and trim levels.

To say that the Punto rescued Fiat in the UK is probably an over-statement, but the fact remains that since its introduction in early 1994, sales for the franchise have spiralled...

Some facelifts work better than others. You've only got to look at the state of Michael Jackson's nose to figure that one out. The same goes for cars too. There are hits, misses and maybes. Into the latter category we can probably put Fiat's facelifted MK2 Punto, launched in 2003. The sharp styling of its predecessor was rounded off but there were a whole host of other changes that were far more agreeable. Buying a used Fiat isn't the gamble it used to be and the MK2 Punto has gained a reputa...

FIAT PUNTO , the italian job
(16/03/2006) by Car and Driving

Fiat's second generation Punto set new standards in build quality for small Fiats following its UK launch early in 2000. As a result, it was well received here, if not quite as popular as it proved to be in Europe. With plenty on the used market, it makes pretty good sense as a used buy, with few of the caveats usually attached to affordable secondhand Fiats.

At launch in early 2000, the question was just how much of a change this new model represented. It did after all, share exactly t...
